With the beautiful flowers and foliage around at the moment, we couldn't resist sharing this activity with you.
The same technique can be done with many different items, but we have focussed on flowers and foliage, as in our garden we have an abundant supply of sweet peas.
These beautiful pictures are great to hang in windows, great for gifts and also can be used as decorations. Let your imagination run wild.
Please send us a photo your creations, of any of the past activities so that we can add you to our gallery. These can be sent to weekly@weerascals.co.nz

STAIN-GLASS FLOWERSLASS FLOWERS
As a kid, I can remember doing these, I think it was with Grandma... and we would have raided Grandad's garden that was forever plentiful with beautiful blooms. Luckily grand-kids can get away with almost anything!!
There is a couple of different steps in creating these master pieces, which adds to the short amount of time it takes for the final process.
Parent/Adult assistance is required when it comes to the final steps.
What to do...
1. Get out the ironing board and iron and turn it on. Place a tea towel on the ironing board for extra protection.
2. Find a small bucket, bowl or basket to collect your treasures into.
3. Go outside to find soft or delicate flowers and foliage - basically items that squash easily. See List below for some examples.
4. Cut a piece of wax paper to double the desired size, and fold it in half. Ours are approximately 30cm wide finished. Make sure the wax side of the paper is on the inside.
5. Find a chopping board or large lid to use as a base. This will aid in transporting the finished design for pressing.
6. Lay the paper flat and arrange the flowers and foliage on one half of the paper in the desired design.
7. Fold over the side with no flowers on it.
8. Get Mum or Dad to carry it to the ironing board and transfer the paper and flowers carefully on the tea towel.
9. Place a paper towel, or tea towel on top of paper.
10. With the iron carefully press and hold for up to about 5 seconds, until the whole paper has been covered. 11. Iron over the whole paper until both sides have stuck together around the flowers.
12. It is complete, you can now cut it into a nicer shape, punch a hole in it and attach a ribbon, or as we did just stick it to the window with sticky tape.
WHAT YOU WILL NEEDWHAT YOU WILL NEED
Wax Paper - I used Mono wax paper, found with tin foil and cling film at your supermarket. Approx $3-$4 for more than you will need. However will will use this again in another activity.
Flowers and foliage - Soft delicate flowers and foliage will give the best results. We used Sweet peas, and bougainvillea flowers, our leaves were a little thick, and the large daisy's from the un-mown lawn disintegrated.
Bucket, basket or bowl - For collecting your treasures.
Iron and ironing board - To press for the final result.
Tea towel and paper towel - To protect the iron and ironing board.
Ribbon, hole punch and sticky tape - For final display.
